QMA “Animal Engine” Press ReleaseBy Richard on April 5, 2010 | No Comments
The National Board and Regional Directors have approved the proposal submitted by the Class and Platform Structure (CAPS) committee regarding the Briggs & Stratton “Animal” engine. The scope of this project is to explore the characteristics of this engine to see if they meet QMA’s unique needs in the future, and then report those findings to the membership.
The goals of the committee are as follows:
• To develop a class structure to run this engine. (Jr, Sr, Light, Heavy, etc)
• Explore and develop power limiting methods to meet the requirements of each class.
• Explore stability of production, and consistency of manufacturing.
• Explore ways and means of technical manuals, inspections, and tools.
• Begin exhibition racing effective August 15th , 2010 to examine suitability for QMA’s purposes.
• Compile all information and report to the membership for consideration.
A budget of $500 has been approved for the purchase of materials for use in the process of
developing power limiters (restrictors). No other expenses to QMA are predicted.
This effort will include participation from Rusty Barnard, NTD, as well as the Tech Advisory
Committee, and Tech Committee, as it progresses.
The Honda engine platform is not involved in this matter, and there is no effort to remove it from QMA.
Please note that no engine platform may be approved for final use unless it is introduced by the standard RCP process.
