Due to rain, we had a late start to the racing season. Race #1 was originally scheduled for March 12th. Due to rain, it was rescheduled to May 1st.
Our season opener was also the kick off to the Regional Rumble series which led to a larger than average car count. Race #2, which fell on Saturday, April 16th, was a busy day for many of us. With a final car count of 86, it made for a long day. A race of that size typically spans two days. We did not anticipate having such a large turn-out for this race.
TVQMA Race #2 and the Regional Rumble took place on Saturday. Many families arrived Friday afternoon to get some practice in before the race weekend and you could hear tires on the track as late as 10pm. It was a warm weekend, but the track experienced a nice breeze that lasted all day. Everybody was ready to go as practice started moments after the drivers meeting. Practice and qualifying took quite a bit of time. This was due to the large car count we did not anticipate on having. The heat race, B-Mains and A-Mains ran into the night ending with awards at around 11:30pm. This is not normal for us, but a race of this size takes time. Sunday’s race ended much earlier.
TVQMA Race #3 was a more relaxed day with a smaller car count, however, some families who traveled from other tracks stuck around to race day two. It was about five degrees hotter but the nice breeze had left us so the temperature on the track was quite warm. After a late Saturday night, we wanted to finish this race as early as possible so things ran pretty smooth.

TVQMA would like to thank all of the families who came out and raced and especially the families who came to visit from other tracks to race with us. We love having families from other tracks in the region race with us and encourage you all to join us for additional club races as our season continues.
Remember that spectating is free at TVQMA races. If you want to bring family or friends to watch the race, please do. We also have Arrive and Drive Promo Days and Quarter Midget Training available to those who are interested in learning more about Quarter Midget Racing.
We would like to thank all of the volunteers who worked to make this race weekend a success. It was a long weekend with a lot of racing, but it was a lot of fun. It would not have happened if it was not for our full-time volunteers and those who helped fill volunteer positions throughout the race day. From the moment registration opened at 8am to the awards late in the evening, some volunteers worked the entire day only taking momentary breaks between classes to grab a bite to eat. We thank you for your commitment to the TVQMA Club and to Quarter Midget Racing.
Below is a video and some photos from the race. I was not able to capture too many photos, so I apologize for not including more classes in the gallery below. This being my first race, I wanted to make sure my Jr. Novice son had my attention throughout the day. In the future, I will make sure to capture photos of more classes and get more coverage of the race as a whole.
